TabShelter Privacy Policy
Your tabs never leave your computer. Workspaces, recovery points and snoozed tabs are stored only in your Chrome profile. TabShelter talks to its own server only to check a Pro licence and, unless you turn it off, to send anonymous usage counts, both described below. There is no analytics, advertising or remote code.
Data handled
When you view, save, restore, import, export, or snapshot tabs, TabShelter processes tab URLs, titles, pinned state, window membership, Chrome tab group names and colors, and timestamps. It also processes workspace names, tags, and notes that you enter. Chrome's built-in favicon API supplies the small site icons shown beside tabs; TabShelter does not send tab data to its developer or a separate favicon service.
Storage and transmission
Sessions, recovery snapshots, settings, notes, and tags are stored in chrome.storage.local in your Chrome profile. TabShelter does not transmit this information to the developer or third parties.
Anonymous usage statistics
Unless you turn it off in Settings, TabShelter sends anonymous usage statistics at most twice a day: the random installation identifier, the extension version, interface language, operating system, plan (free or Pro) and counts only — number of open tabs and windows, saved workspaces, snoozed tabs, recovery points, how many times features were used in the last week and the tidy streak. Page addresses, titles, workspace names and any other content are never sent. When you remove TabShelter, Chrome opens a goodbye page that records the removal time for that identifier. Turning statistics off deletes the stored statistics for your installation. We use these numbers only to understand how TabShelter is used and what to improve.
Sync between computers (Pro)
If you use TabShelter Pro with sync turned on, your saved workspaces (titles, URLs, tab group names and colours) are copied, compressed, into chrome.storage.sync — Chrome's own sync storage tied to your Google account. They travel through Google's Chrome sync to your other computers where you are signed in to Chrome. They are never sent to TabShelter's servers. Turn sync off in Settings at any time; Chrome sync data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
TabShelter Pro licence check
To know whether Pro is active, TabShelter sends a random installation identifier (generated on install and unrelated to your identity or browsing) to the licence server at fasttochart.click/tabshelter, at most a few times a day and when you activate a licence key. No tab, URL, title or workspace data is ever included. If you buy Pro, the purchase is handled by Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, on a web page outside the extension; Paddle processes your name, email and payment details under its own privacy policy. We store the installation identifiers linked to your subscription, your Paddle customer and subscription IDs, your licence key and the subscription status, for as long as the subscription exists plus the period required by tax law.
Permissions
TabShelter uses tabs to display, save, restore, snooze, put to sleep (discard) and de-duplicate tabs; favicon with Chrome's built-in favicon API to display site icons; tabGroups to display and preserve group names and colors; storage and unlimitedStorage for local sessions and snapshots; alarms for periodic snapshots, snoozed tabs and the licence check; system.memory to show how much of your computer's memory is in use (the total and free amount only, read locally); the optional downloads permission, requested only if you turn on the Pro backup file, to keep backup files in your Downloads/TabShelter folder; sidePanel for the tab interface; and contextMenus for user-invoked actions.
TabShelter requests no host permissions, does not inject content scripts, and does not read website page contents.
Sharing, sale, and use
We do not collect, sell, rent, or share extension data, and we do not use it for advertising, credit decisions, or profiling. TabShelter does not intentionally request or read page contents, passwords, payment details, health records, precise location, or personal communications. A URL or page title that you choose to save may itself contain sensitive information; those values remain in your local Chrome profile.
Retention and deletion
Saved workspaces and recovery points remain in your local Chrome profile until you delete them, clear the extension data, or uninstall the extension. Recovery points are automatically retained for the configured period (seven days by default) and can be deleted individually from the Recovery view. Exported Markdown or JSON files are controlled by you after download. Chrome and your operating system may maintain their own backups according to your settings.
Children
TabShelter is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information.
Changes
If a future version changes how data is handled, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that version is released.
